The Svalbard islands are situated in the Arctic Ocean, half way between Norway and the North Pole. The word “Svalbard”, which means “cold coasts” have always fascinated travellers for the unique fauna, arctic nature, wild and untouched open spaces found there and which we will discover by riding snowmobiles. Anyone travelling to the Svalbard Islands is looking for an experience which puts you in contact with nature and very little compromises: the colours of the arctic sky, the mountains, the glaciers and the sea merge together leaving you speechless. An itinerant tour riding a snowmobile which lasts 5 days and goes across valleys, glaciers and fjords in the most stunning areas of the Spitsbergen Island. The aim of this tour is to experience the arctic nature immersing oneself in amongst its traits and qualities. We will spend 4 nights in 2 different chalets, one situated on Van Mijenfjord. The other one in Nordenskjøldland enjoying the solitary quiet of the Arctic: an exceptional experience. A tour which requires a high spirit of adventure and the skill to adapt,, on this tour we are completely independent and autonomous, it is 600km of pure wilderness. The route which goes to and from the east coast across Sabineland crosses valleys, glaciers and frozen sea, and it is chosen depending on the conditions of weather, snow cover and the ice pack. Every evening there is the opportunity to dry your shoes and clothes. Along the itinerary we will encounter huts and tracks of old hunting activities, we will also visit the town of Barenstburg industrial outpost of the arctic and the ghost town of Piramiden. This is the most spectacular and adventurous excursion by snowmobile on the Svalbard islands and offers the best opportunity of bumping into the white bear and enjoying the northern lights (aurora borealis). The last day will be spent visiting the town of Longearbien where there are two museums dedicated to polar exploration and life on the Svalbard isles from the era of fur hunting and mining.
